Digger the Dog was released by Hasbro as part of their Romper Room line of toys in 1974. This particular dog was purchased in October 1974 and features a rare RED pull string. It also does not have the patent stamped on the side behind the front leg like later versions. No Patent stamp was present on the original release of the toy. Patent D-238,804 was filed in July 1974 and finalized in February 1976.
Features of the original version include a yellow hat that can be swiveled, vinyl ears, plastic tail and a red pull string. The string on this one is now very short. Pulling the string enables the dog to move on its own.
For a 49 year old toy, it is in very good condition and clean. Please view the pictures to see areas where the paint is worn off as well as a few other marks.
