Choosing Safety Toys for Dogs
Keeping your dog happy is one of the ways of keeping your dog healthy. When a dog is happy, he or she will most likely be active in most activities which will not only be entertaining to you as the owner but also an exercise for your pet. That is why you need to supply your dog with toys. Toys will always entertain your dog and will even help them in their motor skills. Fortunately, there are a lot of toys in the market that are specifically geared for dogs. All you need to do is just to look for the right type of toys for your dog.
What you need to remember in choosing toys for your dog though is safety. A dog will naturally chew the toys given to him or her. You need to make sure that you have the right type of toys for them to chew. Of course there are other toys for you to give to your dog, but it’s basically chewing toys that will ensure happiness for your dog.
Choosing the Right Size
Chewable dog toys come in different sizes. So be sure to get the right one. You should be able to select the right size chew toy for your dog. The smaller the dog, the smaller the toy should be. But that doesn’t mean the toy will be very small for your dog. The size should be small enough for them to bit but large enough for them to prevent the toy from being swallowed. One of the most dangerous accidents that will happen to your dog is when your dog chokes on a plush toy.
Single and Compact
When you’re looking for a chewable toy for your dog, inspect the components of the toy. Your dog’s toy should never have any components that could be easily removed. If it’s a plush toy, there should be no stitching or any parts that could be easily removed through biting. Of course, you have to expect that the toy will be eventually scratched because of constant biting, but the parts should never fall into pieces. Again, you need to prevent choking as much as possible because of its fatal effect on dogs. Inspecting a toy could take time but the effort is worth it if you want to protect your dog from any accident.
Clean and Germ Free
Every now and then, take your time to clean your dog’s toys. Your dog might have placed them in different areas inside and outside your home and they might have elements that might get them sick. From time to time clean your dog’s toy with water and soap. It might not even take you more than five minutes to clean them.
What’s important when you’re cleaning your dog’s toys is to return it to them not only clean but also dry. A wet toy could still be clean but imagine your dog running around the house with a wet toy in his or her mouth. After cleaning the toy, dry it with a dedicated cloth and return it to your dog.
